VoiceThread Docs / Web Application / Commenting / Using Comment Moderation

Comment Moderation allows you to review all comments before allowing others to see them. This is useful for public conversations where you are worried about the quantity or quality of comments, and it’s a powerful tool for assessment. If Comment Moderation is enabled, commenters cannot see one another’s comments unless you choose to reveal them.

To enable Comment Moderation:

  1. Go to the Edit page for the VoiceThread.
  2. Click on the “Options” menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Select “Playback Settings” from the menu.
  4. Check the box that says “Enable Comment Moderation”.
  5. Click “Save”.

When a comment is hidden, the Identity image for the commenter appears shifted to the left and is darker than the others. There are two moderated comments in the image below.

When you play the comment, you’ll also see a closed-eye icon at the bottom of the comment bubble. Just click that icon to open the eye and reveal the comment. Everyone else will be able to see the comment at that point.

Note: Comment Moderation is enabled automatically when you publish your VoiceThread to the Browse page.
